Half-up, half-down bow hairstyle tutorial
Wash your hair.
Prep your hair.
To help prevent heat damage to your strands, generously spritz your tresses with the TRESemmé Heat Defence Styling Spray.
Curl your hair.
To create some texture and movement to your soon-to-be bow hair, you’ll want to curl your strands using a curling tong, working on 2 inch-wide sections of hair at a time.Tip: If you’re after a more uniformed look, curl all of your hair in the same direction. Or, if you want your curls to appear more natural, curl in different directions.
Create a half-up ponytail.
Divide your hair in half horizontally, starting at around eyebrow height. Then tie the top section of hair into a ponytail and secure it with a hairband, pulling your hair only half-way through. You should be left with a looped ponytail.
Split your loop in half.
Now for the most important part – forming the bow shape.Split your ponytail loop in half down the middle, then use your fingers form your hair into the rough shape of a bow.
Pin your hair in place.
Once you’ve achieved the desired bow shape, use bobby pins to hold either side of the bow in place.
Create the bow.
To complete your bow hairstyle, flip the tail of your ponytail backwards between your 2 loops, to create the centre knot of your bow hair bun.Tuck the ends of your tresses under at the back so that they’re hidden, then fix your strands in place using as many bobby pins as you need.
Set your style.
To help ensure that your bow hairstyle is wobble-free, give your mane a spritz with the VO5 Classic Styling Strong Hold Hairspray – this is one style you won’t want looking undone.
