Hi my lovely friends, I have lovely women today on my blog. I would like you to all meet Jasmine she is taking over the ‘HAIR WHAT I’VE GOT TO SAY’ segment.
Introduce yourself, what do you do?
Hi! My name’s Jasmine Boadi and I’m currently a trainee lawyer and style blogger based in London.
What’s your favorite thing about your work?
One of my favourite things about working at a law firm is being able to watch some of the best practitioners in the country provide a premium service to the biggest companies in the world, and learn from them. I’m also challenged every single day, which I love.
With style blogging, my favourite thing has to be connecting with like-minded young women and men through written discussion and visual content. A bit of a mouthful(!) but basically I love writing and photography, and I’m super grateful for everyone who visits the blog!
Are you natural or relaxed (is that your natural hair colour and texture)
I’m natural! After umming and ahhing about it for the longest time, I chopped all of my hair off one random night about three years ago and I’ve never looked back. But now that my hair has grown out I’m trying to maintain its length, so wigs and weaves are a regular thing for me. This is my natural colour, although I once dyed it jet black – something I won’t do again because it dried my hair out quite badly. But I always dye my weave jet black – just trying to be like my imaginary mum and sister Naomi and Jourdan.
What are your go to products?
For my natural hair, I love Keracare and Tresemme products. I’ll usually co-wash with TreSemme Naturals conditioner, moisturise my damp hair with Keracare Natural Textures Leave-In Conditioner, then add Organix Argan Oil for shine/softness.
For my weaves/wigs I usually go for long, straight jet black hair, so high shine and a good set of straighteners is key. I use John Frieda’s Frizz Ease Glossing Mist and then I spray some L’Oreal Elnett spray on top for serious shine and controlling flyaways. I currently use Remington’s Wet2Straight straighteners as I’ve had them for years and they do the job nicely, but I’ve always been curious about GHDs.
What is your all time favourite hairstyle?
Whether I’m wearing a weave or have my hair natura, I like to stick to a classic centre parting *covers face* But a high ninja bun comes in at a close second, for sure.
What are your 3 top hair care tips?
Firstly, less is more – you don’t necessarily need to use all of the products under the sun to achieve the look you want. Also, too many products = scalp build-up = less growth!
Secondly, figure out what works for you and stick to it. I know for a fact that “wash and gos” don’t work for my natural ultra curly (4b/4c-ish) hair so I don’t bother. Same thing for wigs/weaves: long and straight is kinda my “thing” now so it would be weird if I showed up to work or an event with a blonde pixie cut.
Thirdly, hair care isn’t just about products! My hair is noticeably less brittle and easier to manage when I’m not eating pizza and McDonald’s (both my favourite forms of junk food) 10 times a week.
Do you have a hair routine?
I’m usually pressed for time so my routine is pretty short. I wash my hair about once a week (usually on Sundays) and always detangle thoroughly beforehand. Then after that I let my hair air-dry until slightly damp, add leave-in conditioner and detangle again, part into sections, add argan oil, braid/twist, and leave to fully dry overnight. Sounds like a lot but it’s pretty speedy.
Describe yourself in five words?
(A) curious, ambitious, multi-faceted woman.
What helps give you inspiration/motivation?
Surrounding myself with people who are striving for success in their respective fields is seriously inspiring to me. And I’m motivated by the idea of what life might look like if I push myself a bit harder to go for the things I want.
What are the top three things on your bucket list?
Visit/live in Japan, publish a book, and become fluent in Twi and French.
What made you laugh this week?
Probably a meme my friend sent me. He always sends me the best memes.
