Hair talk
Hi my lovely friends, I have amazing women and supremum today on my blog. I would like you to all meet Sareta she is taking over the ‘HAIR WHAT I’VE GOT TO SAY’ segment.
Introduce yourself, what do you do?
I’m Sareta, mother of 3 boys and I currently blog about my lifestyle and motherhood. I think of myself as a creative person, so my blog and images allow me to have that artistic release that I somewhat miss. As an ex professional makeup artist, the last 3 years as a stay at home mum have been a big change.
What’s your favourite thing about your work?
The favourite thing about blogging is the fact that I can share my work with my kids. As I share my story and theirs, I give them a chance to get involved. The two older boys have written and vlogged a few times on the site and loved it. There’s no pressure so they can dip in and out when they want.
Are you natural or relaxed (is that your natural hair colour and texture)
My hair is currently semi natural. It’s not relaxed so I have the best of both worlds. I can stay natural or blow it out now and again. I have colour throughout, which has loosened the curls somewhat. This is why I say I’m not 100% natural!
What are your go to products?
At the moment I’m using Paul Walker hair products. Ultimate Moisture Sulphate Free Shampoo and Conditioner. The Beautiful Kinks Styling Créme Gelee and Q Oil Quench Essential Oil.
Roughly every 4 weeks I use Silver Shampoo by BLEACH LONDON, it’s a purple toning shampoo that gets rid of brassy hues. Since my hair has been lightened, I need to maintain the health of my hair by using good products and getting regular trims. Approx every 8 weeks. *A massive shout out to my hairdresser Loz at Thirty Salon. (https://salonthirty.com).
What is your all time favourite hairstyle?
I love Senegalese Twists. I’ve often done them myself in lots of different colours, grey being my favourite. I love them when you can just put them up and have a messy bun. They’re my favourite style for holidays, hot periods or when I want to take a break from styling my hair.
What are your 3 top hair care tips?
Moisture, products that suit your own hair type and protection. I find my hair is in its best condition when I use products that suit my hair type. Whether I’m wearing it straight or kinky. Protection is key. Whether it’s taking a break from styling or protecting from the weather. I like to put my hair in braids or twists now and again. Don’t be afraid of water! I lightly spritz my hair at night before I twist and wrap. A little water with Rosemary essential oils, then I seal in that moisture with Andrew Walker’s Q Oil Quench Essential Oil.
Do you have a hair routine?
Depending on how I wear it yes. Spritzing and twisting if I’m going to be curly the next day. Otherwise if it’s straight, I’ll use a heat protecting spray by JOICO – ‘Smooth Cure’. That way I’m happy that my hair is protected against any heat that I use, such as GHD straighteners or a blow drier.
Describe yourself in five words?
Loud, fun, creative, playful and vibrant.
What helps give you inspiration/motivation?
I love images. My inspiration comes from seeing fashion, nature or art. I love Pinterest. It’s such a great way to store all your ideas and find exactly what you’re looking for.
What are the top three things on your bucket list?
Buying a house, Travelling and more tattoos. Not necessarily in that order!
What made you laugh this week?
My cousin and my sister. We have a Whatsapp group that we talk in everyday, all day. Wether it’s about whats happening in our lives that day or the lasted Beyoncé pregnancy meme, these two have me in tears daily.
