Hair talk

Hi my name is Teshna but I’m mostly known as Queen Teshna. I’m a UK based Blogger/Vlogger and for the past four years, I’ve been creating online tutorials showing women all over the world how to style and care for their natural hair. I believe simple and easy makes things less complicated and more fun. The skills I gained from working as a beauty therapist and my love for beauty has transpired into my videos. As a borderline product junkie, I love trying out new products and sharing them with my followers. Initially my content was heavily focused on natural hair because of my strong belief in freedom and expression. Fast-forward to a few years later, I learnt that everything is connected. Healthy hair means Healthy life. Not to mention your hair has such a major impact on your overall appearance. I incorporate my love for fashion, travel and health into my contents.

What’s your favourite thing about your work?

My favourite thing about my work is to create and inspire. I enjoy editing something from scratch and seeing the vision come to life.  I also love to create simple and easy hair tutorials that are easy to follow.

Are you natural or relaxed (is that your natural hair colour and texture)?

My hair is natural, I big chopped in 2012 and I’ve been natural ever since.  I have 3c type hair (looser curl texture). My natural hair colour is black but I change my hair colour every few weeks depending on how bored I get.

What are your go to products?

  • Eco styling gel,
  • Taliah Wajiid curl sealer
  • Lush R&B Hair moisturiser
  • Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore Treatment Masque
  • Mielle organics mint Almond oil

What is your all time favour hairstyle?

When my hair was long I’m the laziest person, high puff with my edges slick and slayed is a winner! However, I’m currently sporting a short TWA so my favourite style is to slick my hair all back.

What are your 3 top hair care tips?

  • Deep condition weekly
  • Moisturise daily or every other day
  • Listen to your hair, well… not literally Lol but if your hair feels dry it’s trying to tell you that it needs to be moisturised or maybe your hair feels brittle and it is breaking off. This could be a sigh that you need to stop with the hair straightener and reach for the protein treatment.

Do you have a hair routine?

Yes I have a hair regimen. My hair regimen consists of washing my hair once a 2 or 3 times a week. I usually co-wash (Conditioner only) twice a week. I moisturise and style my hair daily. In addition I do a Protein treatment or a deep cleanse if needed once a month.

Describe yourself in five words?

Calm, Curious, adventurous, passionate, confident

What helps give you inspiration/motivation?

I get inspiration from my surroundings, my family and friends. I love reading its one of my favourite hobbies. The best thing about reading is you can use your imagination to take away inspiration and motivation from just allowing your mind to wonder.

What are the top three things on your bucket list?

  1. Fly a plane
  2. Jump out of a plane
  3. Go backpacking

What made you laugh this week?

I watched a screening of the taxi driver (1970’s movie) with Robert De Niro. The movie was so confusing right until the end. The least funniest thing made us laugh.
