Hair talk
Hey my lovely friends! I really hope your all doing well. Today Jay is taking over the ‘HAIR WHAT I’VE GOT TO SAY’ segment.I hope you enjoy what she got to say, as much as I did. SHE IS SO LOVELY!
Introduce yourself, what do you do?
I’m Jey and I work in the aviation industry in the Netherlands.s.
What’s your favourite thing about your work?
I get to decide my own times and projects.
Are you natural or relaxed (is that your natural hair colour and texture)
I’ve been natural for the past 2 years now.
What are your go to products?
I’m in love with the natural hair care line from Texture My Way (especially their “Keep It Curly Ultra-defining Curl Pudding” with shea butter & olive oil and their “ Easy Comb Leave-in Detangling & Softening Creme therapy”, also with shea butter & olive oil)
I also use Aunt Jackie’s Curl La La Defining Curl Custard for my flat twist outs.
Recently I also started to love Luster’s Pink Original Oil Moisturizer Lotion again, along with Pink Shinin’ Jam for my updos. Luster’s Pink is a classic old school brand that somehow has been forgotten, with all these new natural hair care brands that are popping up nowadays. I still think this old school brand does wonders for my thick and dry natural hair.
I also love Kid’s Organics (Africa’s Best) Ultimate Moisture Shea Butter + Olive Oil Conditioning Shampoo, along with their Detangling Moisturizing Hair Lotion ( Does wonders for my hair!!!)
What is your all time favour hairstyle?
I don’t have an all time favourite hairstyle. I like to experiment with different styles and this all depends on my mood to be honest. I just go with a hairstyle I feel at that moment. Sometimes I flat iron my hair, other times I leave it out with a flat twist out(only during warmer weather though!)Lately I’ve been more into updos with a faux afro puff, or a flat twist out updo style(tied around with a silky scarf). Now I think I might go for box braids again this Summer…
What are your 3 top hair care tips?
Moisturize your hair on a daily with a good moisturizing lotion, just like you would do for your skin.
Wash your hair at least once a week with your choice of shampoo(whether it’s with sulphate or sulphate free.). Use one that works best for your hair, since you know your hair the best. I prefer a 2-in-1 shampoo, meaning a conditioner and shampoo in one.
Always use a deep conditioner after washing your hair. You don’t have to use one where you have to leave it in for 30 minutes…there are lots of 3-minute deep conditioners on the market, which I actually prefer. This is good for people who don’t have much time and just want to do a “ wash-and-go”.
Do you have a hair routine?
To be honest, I don’t have an exact hair care routine just yet. I’m still working on one, because I like to experiment with different products and hair styles.
Describe yourself in five words?
Globetrotter, nonconformist, creative, cosmopolitan, versatile
What helps give you inspiration/motivation?
Traveling
What are the top three things on your bucket list?
Have my own fashion line/business, Move to a tropical climate, Have a beach wedding
What made you laugh this week?
This question, because I had to really think what exactly made me laugh this week. Good one though! Many things, now I think about it..just random jokes with my family and some sit coms.
